Jim Vance’s 45 Years Rocking his Beard and Delivering his Smooth Style

Jim Vance celebrates 45 years at Washington’s NBC 4!  I have been a fan of his from the first time I saw his smooth delivery when I arrived in the area in 1975.

In my line of business dealing with shaving, over time I have observed the grooming standards of the men in the news media.   I’ve always said that during one period cialis occasion of time there seemed to be but two men “qualified” to wear a beard to serve as anchors on the big screen: Jim Vance and Ed Bradley. And between those two gentlemen, they put the “c” in cool.

Whether it’s Vance’s choice to wear a beard or a matter of necessity is personal, but razor bumps have plagued many a black man in their careers forcing them to hide the unsightly bumps to look good for the camera and public eye. Some have been fortunate to be able to maintain a clean shaven face without the burden of extensive razor bump complications.  Others have a constant battle.  Select few are permitted to sport facial hair.

The beard has its ups and downs. I have worn beards many times in my career, for many reasons. Mainly because I could grow a full beard to hide razor bumps and to prevent future bumps from forming. The issue arose when I needed to present myself for a job interview and the beard would need to come off. Clean shaven was certainly the unspoken required dress code.  After getting the job, I’d grow the beard again to prevent future bumps.

This is fine when there are options of whether or not to shave.  But there remains many positions that require clean shaving including the military and then choices must be made. Shave, get the job and find a way to acheter cialis securise maintain to remain qualified or try to obtain a waiver and hope that it does not hold you back.

Vance, back to your story… Your presence has opened the door to those who want to be like you. No doubt, “you da man”. Continue to keep on doing what you have been doing all these years! Those commentaries at the end of each segment have overwhelmed me at times, inspired me (and others) for years. I look forward to listening after a hard day’s work and getting ready for the next one. And I especially enjoy you are

rocking your beard all the while! Congratulations!
